Come to the Herkimer Pub & Brewery to meet and greet the artist and curators of W(e are )here: Mapping the Human Experience. This informal get together will be followed at 6:30 by a short walk to Intermedia Arts for a special "after hours" showing of the exhibit. Free and open to all.

Psychogeographic Map Making Party
Thursday, April 24th | 6:30 to 9pm @ Intermedia Arts
Join Solutions Twin Cities for a psychogeographic walking tour & map making party. You'll form small groups and set out on foot in search of unique insights into the urban fabric of the surrounding Uptown neighborhoods. Utilizing Google Earth, a projector, and a wall sized "canvas," groups will then layer their experiences over a projected representation of the city, resulting in one map that communicates the participant's collective experience. Drinks will be available to assist the creative spirit. Free and open to all.

• World premier of “Hello World! or: How I Learned To Stop Listening and Love the Noise” a video wall — Come face to face with thousands of personal video diaries arrayed on a massive video wall.

The simulation consists of a hacked particle engine that uses random fire textures from a bunch of sources across the web. The texture colors change with time, eventually dying off as smoky textures. Here’s a picture and a link to the OpenGL-based applet and source.

For the next few weeks, I will be collaborating with researchers at the Kitchen Budapest. The Kitchen Budapest is a brand new new media research lab located here in Budapest. While I’m here I will continue work on a few of my own projects and will be helping out with some of the research that is happening here already.

It promises to be a great experience. More reports to follow …

Here’s a prototype for a new project. It’s a 40 x 10 ft., three-projector installation running about 2000 videos. Stay tuned for more documentation as the project develops.

I’m at the AIGA Design Conference in Denver this weekend. Tonight I will be sharing my 60 second vision of what is coming “Next”. Simply put, I think it will be Architecturally-integrated urban screens.
